I recently had one of those days when I felt life wasn’t fair. I have been working hard to show the government how difficult it is for me to work without the assistance of others, but the bureaucracy surrounding Social Security Disability Income, that day, had really ticked me off. I felt like I was being punished for simply trying to do the good work. I thought to myself, “this is discrimination! If I don’t qualify for Disability benefits, then who does?” I could have gone on and on about how unfair the system is, but my thoughts were interrupted by a little voice, “why don’t you find something positive to think about?” So, please join me in watching my video, “Appreciation, Not Discrimination”:

As I pondered the people that I appreciate, Donnita Dyer rose to the surface of my thoughts. Donnita is the reason why I have such a well-written autobiography. I cannot conjure up the words that would truly express the appreciation I have for her. She dedicated so much of her time and invested an enormous amount of energy writing Never Give Up. Enjoyed Ron. Very good thoughts. Ya know Ron, back in the 1970’s I worked on the Alaska Pipeline doing drilling/soils exploration. When the drill was taken back to Fairbanks the boss had me drill a water well for the office and gave me this black man as a drill helper. Well after 2 days I was getting frustrated at him for not hustling as fast as I though he should and started getting on him about it. He never said a work but tried harder. After we had finished he was there for a while doing yard work and I sat down with him for lunch one day and was talking and he told me he was 72 years old. Boy did I feel bad for getting on him for not hustling. I am still 12 years away from being his age and I could not do what I had him doing. Funning how some memories stick with you. He turned out to be really a nice man.
